THAT IS WHY WE ARE ALL HERE TODAY - TO TELL THE WORLD AMERICA IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS.
Well, the last two days were huge. Wednesday January 18th, 2012 found me on a plane flying out to Orlando for my first business trip of the new-year. It took some serious "guidance" to get my ass on that plane and take this first journey of 2012. In fact, it left me speaking to myself (all explicit but eloquent). Along with my ill-conceived home-brewed motivation, some more honest assistance was to come - in fun fashion.
On the flight over I had the honor of reading a piece of exceptional work (Yo! Fat Face!) that changed my life for 2012. After reading this piece cover to cover on my 6 hour flight I became aware that the question of the day to kick of 2012 was a simple one: "Are you Open for Business". Truth is, at that moment, I certainly was not. I felt FAR from Open for Business in fact. The “Business” discussed here is not the daily grind that fills the pockets but that higher level of business that speaks from and to the heart. Being Open for Business is being aligned with the Spirit at all levels of consciousness. To do this an individual has to be taking orders from his conscience, be willing to trust, and have his ticket stamped for the journey – weather that adventure leads into the web or the wonder. Magically, in this piece of work, there was also tremendous demonstration, correction and compassion showcased to assist in the opening up. As I flipped the pages, shed some tears, and felt the words I did feel a change inside. By the time I landed in Orlando, while still nervous, I also felt ready to give Business a shot at this new level.
The plane touched down gracefully on a cool and balmy night in Florida. After grabbing my bags and renting a car I head out of Orlando International to find a hotel. A 7-11 stop on the way yielded a penny by the car door that further encouraged my feeling of being somewhat “Back on Track” to whatever degree. I arrived at the hotel late and flipped on the news. Come to find out, President Obama was also in Orlando set to deliver a speech at Disneyworld of all places! 15 minutes away from what I sat! Obama, Mickey, You Know Who, and Eric in Orlando together – now it’s a party!!! I went to sleep wondering what the next day would hold in store. Would my meeting end early so I could head over to the park and catch the speech? That was my secret hope.
The next morning came and I headed out early to demonstrate my product to Florida Hospital – Orlando. I pull up, valet the car, and the first thing I see is a huge building attached to the Hospital called the Walt Disney Pavilion. I can only smile feeling the flow of the day and the change in feeling as compared to my state 24 hours prior. I head into my meeting and the day kicks into high gear. While demonstrating our system, I received an incredible amount of attention and focus from those listening. As soon as one demo ends, another begins, then another, then another. The manager ended up watching it, then the director, then the head pathologist for the laboratory – all decision makers. On and on it went until almost 5:00pm - long after Barack had concluded his speech. I started packing up to leave and drifted off into thought. I felt so happy in the knowing that I was in Orlando to do my Business and Obama was in Orlando to do his. It felt a higher exchange had taken place by not “ducked out early” to watch him speak in person. I was right where I was supposed to be, and he was right where he was supposed to be. I was working for him and for the Spirit and he was doing the same – both Open for Business. As if on cue with this thought the director comes over and says “we are ready to move forward – just send over the paperwork”. Boom, Boom! $25,000 sale booked baby!!!
That night, back at the hotel, I fired up the computer to hunt down Obama’s speech online. I had no idea what he spoke about that day, but was certainly interested in finding out. Did he have as much fun as me today? Did he stay Open for Business? And certainly he did – at a new 2012 level. My heart jumped out of my chest as I listened to Obama’s speech about opening up America to the rest of the world more, welcoming more tourists, and doing more to spark the economy. Then, shivers ran through me as he uttered the words: “That is why we are all here today – to tell the world America is open for Business”. As I heard those words I felt such a deep fulfillment feeling Open for Business myself, and having just engaged in new business all day. My focus for the last 36 hours had been just that and to hear him deliver that vision, at Disneyworld, was awe inspiring to me in so many ways. I listened as the President acknowledged Mickey Mouse as a fellow world leader, and outlined his ideas for expansion. He spoke of speed, welcoming, income, spirit, and so very much more. The words between the words were some of the most inspirational I have ever heard from a public figure – EVER. That man is doing one hell of a job. Now, the moment now finds me on a plane flying from Orlando to Nashville for an early morning demonstration at another facility. I woke up happy at 5:30am (east coast time) and am now working to step up for another day of business and achievement. That is why I am here – to show the world my heart and keep my ass open for business!!! Over and out from 35,000 feet.
